The Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) has been started in Lao P.D.R. since 1999 aiming at supporting human resource development of young government officials who engage in formulating and implementing social and economic development plans in Lao P.D.R.

Up to the present, total of 334 Fellows have been sent to Japan. JDS is now inviting potential applicants who understand project aims and are interested in two-year master’s degree program at Japanese accepting universities for the academic year 2016-2017. The program will be instructed in English.  The number of dispatches is 20 per year.


Nationality    Citizens of Lao P.D.R.
Age    Between 22 and 39 as of April 1st, 2016
(Born on/after April 2nd, 1976 and born on/before April 1st, 1994)
Background    Posses a Bachelor Degree from universities authorized by the Government of Lao P.D.R. or other country
Currently employed in the Target Organization* with permanent status.
Has at least 2 (two) years of work experience in the Target Organization, particularly in work relevant to the selected Component, at the time of application.
Proficiency    Have a good command of both written and spoken English.
TOEFL score of 500 or higher is preferable (not requirement).
Condition    Mentally and physically in good health.
