Application Deadline: September 30th 2015
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), in partnership with the Pacific Cooperation Foundation (PCF), is offering current New Zealand Scholarship students studying at undergraduate level the opportunity to gain work experience in New Zealand over the summer period.
The purpose of the internships is for high achieving students from the Pacific and Timor Leste to gain professional experience through work with reputable New Zealand companies and government organisations, to develop professional networks, and to improve their readiness to enter employment on return to their home country.
Internships will last on average 10 weeks from mid-November to mid-February. Most internships are unpaid; however, MFAT will continue to pay standard scholarship stipends for the period of the internship, and will meet the cost of any travel for students who gain an internship in a location in New Zealand outside of the region in which they are residing. Interns will still be entitled to take Home Leave Travel during the summer period, but will be expected to do so at a time that does not interfere with their internship or study responsibilities.
Host agencies will provide work in a specialist field, resources required to undertake that work, supervision and mentoring for the duration of the internship. For the 2015 programme, internships are available in the following fields:
- Public policy/governance
- Trade and Commerce
