Application Deadline: 20th July 2015

Doodle 4 Google 2015 submissions are open from 21 July to 21 August. Teachers must submit student’s doodle information online at the Submit link before posting doodle entries.

Google is inviting school students in years 1-10 to sharpen their pencils, use their imagination and artistic talent to create a Google doodle depicting their vision for

“If I could travel back in time I would…” The winning doodle will be shown on the Google homepage for a day for millions of Australians to enjoy.

 

Eligibility:

  • This competition is open to Australian residents attending a participating school in Australia in Years 1 to 10, who have obtained their parents’ and/or legal guardians’ permission to enter and whose parents and/or legal guardians consent to be bound by these terms and conditions in their own right.
  • Entrants will be grouped into 4 year groups: years 1 to 3, years 4 to 6, years 7 to 8 and years 9 to 10 (each a “Year Group”).
  • At the Heats stage, Google will select 320 (80 from each Year Group) State and Territory Finalists from which 32 (8 from each Year Group) State and Territory Winners will be shortlisted from the entries submitted by schools in all Australian States and Territories.

Judging and Prizes:

Finalists will be judged as described below:

1 National winner

  • A Google Doodler will pick the overall national winner out of the four national year group winners.

Prizes:

  • The winning doodle will be hosted on Google Australia’s homepage at www.google.com.au for 24 hours.
  • $10,000 worth of technology equipment for their school, Chromebook for the National winner in addition to the Nexus Tablet that they receive as a national year group winner.

State and Territory finalists

  • 320 finalists will be chosen, 10 for each year group in each of the 8 Australian States and Territories: Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia.

Prize:

  • Doodle 4 Google certificate.
  • State and Territory winners.
  • 32 winners will be chosen across the year groups and states/territories.

Prizes:

  • Printed copy of the doodle for their school.
  • Doodles to be displayed on the Doodle 4 Google website for public vote.
  • National year group winners.

The public will be asked to vote online for their favourite doodle from each year group, to help select the four national winners.

Prizes:

  • 10 x Nexus tablets for the national year group winner’s school.
  • A Nexus tablet for the national year group winner.

Judging Criteria

Doodles will be judged based on the following three categories:

  • Artistic Merit: based on grade group and artistic skill.
  • Creativity: based on the representation of the theme and use of the Google logo.
  • Theme Communication: How clearly the competition theme is expressed in both the artwork and the written statement.
