Comprised of twelve individuals dedicated to advancing the mission of UNESCO, the Youth Working Group (YWG) connects youth across the world to opportunities that allow them to affect global change. Since its start in 2010, the YWG has advised UNESCO, made valuable connections with global change leading partner organizations, and worked closely with the US state department, all while opening doors for youth engagement. They serve to facilitate cross-cultural communication and to provide a number of platforms for motivated young people to engage in dialogue with one another.
YWG team members participate in weekly conference calls to promote UNESCO’s mission and to create platforms for youth engagement. These calls serve as a platform to bring together the ideas and opinions of educators, students, and leaders, each of whom are passionate about their experiences and are inspired to create more opportunities for youth. Group members’ roles range from leading a project, to assisting other group members in project execution, to communicating with partner organizations.
Entering its sixth year, the YWG is expanding and is looking to add new members to broaden their base of insights and experiences. The YWG members are in constant communication to re-evaluate and grow their projects and platforms, looking for opportunities to connect youth to opportunities to affect global change.
