Duties and Responsibilities
* Under the guidance and supervision of the Coordination and Planning Specialist of UN Women ECA Regional Office (ECA RO), the intern will provide the support to the implementation of 2017 Work Plan of ECA RO, specifically the planned activities in the areas of UN Coordination, planning and RBM.  This includes the following:                              •    Support the secretariat function of ECA Regional Working Group on Gender (RWGG). This includes preparation of meeting minutes, coordination and consolidation of inputs for upcoming meetings and documents, and support to the overall management and implementation of the 2017 joint work plan of RWGG.
* Contribute to knowledge management and information sharing across all UN Women offices and Gender Theme Groups (GTGs) in the ECA region in the areas of UN coordination by collecting, analyzing and sharing key lessons, promising practices and resources. This includes the management of information and regular updates in the inter-agency online platform called Yammer that connects the members of RWGG and GTGs across 18 countries in the region.
* Conduct online questionnaire to the gender experts who attended the Training of Trainers (ToT) in 2015, analyze the questionnaire responses, summarize key findings, and prepare a report for dissemination across 18 countries.
* Conduct regional-level analysis of key documents from UN Country Teams (UNCTs) and GTGs to generate a report that summarizes gender-related key findings and recommendations at the regional level.
* Support to inter-agency regional events and initiatives related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and gender, including logistics/admin support and taking minutes.
* Support to the preparation and finalization of a new Strategic Note 2018-2021 of ECA RO and five programme offices, including coordination and consolidation of inputs and data entry in the UN Women online system called Results Management System (RMS).
* Support to the annual review of the 2017 annual work plan, and preparation and finalization of 2018 annual work plan of ECA RO, including coordination and consolidation of inputs and data entry in RMS.
* Support to preparation of planning-related meetings for the preparation and finalization of 2018 annual work plans of all offices in ECA region, including the review of annual work plans; consolidation of feedback, preparation of meeting minutes, and admin/logistics support.
* Support to completion of quarterly monitoring exercises for ECA RO and programme and country office in RMS, including verification of data entry.
* Support to the preparation and finalization of 2017 Annual Report of ECA RO and review of annual reports from country and programme offices, including coordination and consolidation of inputs and feedback and verification of data entry.
* Analyze results from the anonymous training evaluation questionnaires and training tests and prepare a report that summarizes key findings and recommendations to improve future trainings. Provide admin/logistics support to organize RBM training if it’s planned in Istanbul.
* Support to the preparation of audit that will take place during the 4th quarter of 2017 in ECA RO, including preparation of folders and documents in the areas of UN coordination, planning and RBM.
* Additional support to the Coordination and Planning Specialist in her/his functions as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

* Education:

•    The intern should be pursuing academic studies in public administration, programme management, gender studies, international development, international relations, social sciences or other similar subject at post graduate level.
* Be enrolled in a post graduate school programme (second university degree, or equivalent, or higher)
Language:
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English are required.
* Working knowledge of Russian would be an asset.
Experience and skills:
* Strong computer skills with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point are required.
* Skills and experience in using basic data analysis functions of Microsoft Excel to analyze quantitative data and to visualize data and findings are required.
* Basic knowledge and experience in gender analysis and gender mainstreaming in the development and/or humanitarian context is required.
* Experience in conducting comparative/multi-country analysis and generating analytical reports, using quantitative and qualitative methods, would be an asset.
* Experience and knowledge in results-based planning, monitoring, reporting and/or evaluation would be an asset.
* Experience in supporting gender-related programmes and initiatives at the global, regional or country level would be an asset.
* Experience in organizing events and/or training would be an asset.
Conditions:
* UN Women will not pay for the internship; all the expenses connected with it will be borne by the intern;
* UN Women accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
* The Intern must provide proof of enrolment in a health insurance plan;
* The Intern will not be eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UN Women during the period of my internship or for the six months immediately following the expiration date thereof;
* The Intern will be personally responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed.
Once the candidate has been selected, the following additional documents need to be submitted:
* Letter of enrolment from school or proof of (Master’s programme) graduation if within less than one year;
* Scanned visa document/scanned passport document if no visa is required;
* Scanned medical insurance document.

UN Women Internship Policy:
* Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
 -Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
-Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
-Have graduated with a university degree (as (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
* UN Women internship programme does not provide a salary or remuneration for the internship;
* All the expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern, sponsoring Government or institution;
* UN Women accepts no responsibility for costs arising from accidents and/or illness or death incurred during the internship;
* The intern is responsible for obtaining necessary visas and arranging travel to and from the duty station where the internship will be performed;
* Interns are not eligible to apply for, or be appointed to, any post in UN WOMEN during the period of the internship or for six months immediately following the expiration date of internship;
* The intern must provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance plan, proof of school enrollment, a scanned copy of his/her passport, two letters of recommendation, and application.
