2015 University of Phoenix AMVETS Scholarships

 Application Deadline:

University of Phoenix is pleased to collaborate with the AMVETS to offer a scholarship program. AMVETS was originally founded in 1944 to support the needs of World War II veterans. Since being founded, AMVETS now assists individuals who are currently serving, or who have honorably served, in the U.S. Armed Forces from World War II to the present. As part of their commitment, AMVETS supports those who desire to finish their education.

Through this scholarship program, twenty (20) full-tuition scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will allow a prospective student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master’s degree program at University of Phoenix. Recipients may choose to attend a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or may attend University of Phoenix online.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants for the scholarship must demonstrate the following to be considered:

  1. If applicants reside in the United States* they must meet one of the following requirements: be a legal resident of the United States; have been granted permanent residency; have a valid visa that does not prohibit educational studies;
  2. Applicants must be one of the below:
    1. A honorably discharged veteran or current member of the active military (including National Guard and Reserves)
    2. A spouse of a current military service member or honorably discharged veteran
    3. A child (under age 21 or full-time student under age 23) of a current military service member or honorably discharged veteran
  3. Applicants must not be currently enrolled nor in the process of enrolling at a University of Phoenix campus or an online program at any time prior to the scholarship award date.
  4. Applicants must not be currently enrolled nor in the process of enrolling at a University of Phoenix campus or an online program at any time prior to the scholarship award date.
  5. pplicants must meet all admissions requirements of University of Phoenix.
  6. Applicants must not be an employee (including full and part time faculty members) or family member (spouse, dependent child or domestic partner) of an employee of Apollo Education Group, Inc., University of Phoenix, Western International University, Institute for Professional Development or any other subsidiary of Apollo Education Group, Inc.
  7. Applicants must submit a copy of their DD214 (member 4) or a signed letter from Command certifying active duty status.
  8. Applicants must submit a complete, signed application, together with all supporting documentation by the deadline date. The completion of the application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to applicant.

Selection process

  1. Only the first 200 qualified applicants who meet the eligibility criteria, submit their complete application, and supporting documentation, as more fully described herein, on or before the deadline (“qualified applications”) will be considered in the selection process.

Application instructions

  1. Access the University of Phoenix AMVETS Scholarship online application.
  2. Follow the given instructions.
  3. Review your complete application and submit.
  4. Print a copy of the submitted application for your records.
  5. Applicants under 21 years of age must submit the supplemental materials listed below.

Applicants under 21 years of age (only)

If you are under 21 years of age, you must print out, sign and upload a copy of the scholarship terms and conditions and release form. Follow the instructions below.

  1. Print a hard copy of the University of Phoenix Terms & Conditions and the Apollo Education Group, Inc. Consent and Release Form.
  2. You and your parent or legal guardian must complete both forms.
  3. Scan and upload both completed forms to the online application (“Online Application Acknowledgement” section).

Deadline Date:

A complete application, and supporting documentation, must be submitted before the first 200 qualified applications that meet the defined eligibility criteria have been submitted, or before September 8, 2015, whichever comes first. Applications not submitted or submitted after the application limit or designated deadline will not be considered. No exceptions.

Award Date:
The scholarship committee will determine the recipients of the scholarship by the award date, November 11, 2015.
