Working professional journalists in developing and transitioning countries in Asia can apply for a fellowship to travel to and attend Uncovering Asia: The Second Asian Investigative Journalism Conference, in Kathmandu, Nepal (September 23-25, 2016).

For our three-day conference we are bringing together an extraordinary group of top investigative reporters, data journalists, and media law and security experts from across Asia and around the world. Our conferences, held every two years, are well-known for focusing on hands-on, practical skills and training. Here is a unique chance to up your game and learn from the best in the business.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • More than 30 fellowships are available both for established and young promising journalists with at least three years of experience who are eager to learn state-of-the-art methods and techniques and help us spread investigative journalism around the world.
  • Applicants should have demonstrated experience in investigative or data journalism.
  • Ten fellowships are reserved for data journalists.
  • Another five fellowships are available for those engaged in cutting-edge investigative techniques and production; This includes use of 360 video, drones, sensors, and multimedia.

As part of the fellowship, after the Uncovering Asia Conference, grantees are expected to produce a story or give a presentation about the conference in their home countries to help spread investigative journalism worldwide.

Applicants must be able to communicate in and understand English, as this will be the main language of the conference.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED:

Please note that no per diem will be offered, so participants are expected to cover any extra costs at their own expense, including transportation to airport and any visa fees.
