Contest Theme: How I Found My Park at Joshua Tree

Show us how you made a connection with Joshua Tree National Park. Maybe you learned about pioneer history on a Keys Ranch tour, pushed your limits on one of the park’s thousands of climbing routes, or experienced natural quiet for the first time. However you did it, we want to see how you found your park at Joshua Tree.

Grand Prize:

The winning image will be featured on the 2017 Joshua Tree National Park Annual Pass. The winner will be announced on June 15, 2016.

How to Enter:

  • Entries will be accepted from May 15 – June 1, 2016.
  • Entries will only be accepted via Instagram. Entrants must post an image using the hashtags #JTNPphotocontest & #FindYourPark in conjunction to enter. Posts should also tag the Joshua Tree National Park account (@joshuatreenps) and include a brief caption describing how the image illustrates the contest theme.
Contest Rules:
  • The contest is open to all. Entrants under 18 years of age require the permission of a parent or guardian. By entering the contest, entrants under 18 years of age indicate that they have obtained the permission of a parent or guardian.
  • Photos must be the original, unaltered work of the entrant. Photos must be taking within the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park.
  • By submitting, the entrant agrees that they are the sole copyright owner of the image.
  • Size requirements: photos must be a minimum of 960 pixels wide.
  • If selected as a winning image, the Entrant must be able to provide the highest resolution version of the image possible.
  • DO NOT use Instagram to edit your image (no filters, tilt shift, color correction, brightness/contrast, etc). Use of editing features in the Instagram app may disqualify entries.

-Entries will be accepted from May 18 – June 1, 2016. The judging period will take place from June 1 – June 8, 2016. Contest winners will be announced June 15, 2016.

-Participants may enter as many images as they wish. To enter, post entries to Instagram using the hashtags: #JTNPphotocontest &#FindYourPark. These two hashtags used in combination constitute entry into the contest. Entries should show best practices for visiting national parks and public lands. Images containing illegal or prohibited activities will be disqualified. It is the entrant’s responsibility for knowing and following park regulation.

However you did it, we want to see how you found your park at Joshua Tree.

-Judging will be conducted by park staff. Members of the park social media team will narrow entries to a top ten. A panel comprised of park management will select the winning image.

-Prize:

The winning image will be featured on 2017 Joshua Tree National Park Annual Pass. Top images will be featured on park social media accounts.
