Massachusetts Women in Finance Fellowship 2017 for Young Women in the financial services industry.
The Massachusetts Women in Finance Fellowship is a paid fellowship opportunity for young women interested in entering the financial services industry. Last year, it debuted as the first fellowship of its kind sponsored by a government organization. The fellowship is open to female-identifying undergraduate students attending an institution of higher education located in Massachusetts or female-identifying undergraduate students who reside in Massachusetts but attend an institution of higher education located in the United States but not in Massachusetts.
The purpose of the program is to identify and foster female talent for the financial industry, build a network and pipeline for women in finance, and advocate for the placement of women in leadership roles.
Fellows will be provided with the professional skills they need to launch their careers in finance, and will benefit from a mentoring program designed to help them navigate the industry.
In addition to professional experience, Fellows will be offered leadership programming and be given the opportunity to attend Office of Economic Empowerment events, including informational seminars, resume workshops, financial education discussions, and other professional development opportunities.
The 2017 Summer Fellowship is a ten-week program scheduled to run from June 5, 2017 – August 11, 2017. Fellows will receive a stipend, and are required to commit to 37.5 hours per week. Approximately 5 Fellows will be accepted into this highly competitive program.
Fellows accepted into the program will be assigned to departments within the Massachusetts State Treasury or to quasi-agencies chaired by the Office of the State Treasurer: Administration, Debt Management, Massachusetts State Lottery Commission, Massachusetts School Building Authority, and the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Management Board. Each Fellow will also be assigned to a specific mentor, who will meet with them regularly throughout the program.
